6'8" Class Of 2011 Dwight High School Star Jens Kennedy Is Having A Strong Junior Season, And Has Staked His High School Team To A 19-1 Record Hoops Illinois January 26, 2010 Class of 2011 Dwight High School star Jens Kennedy is in the midst of a superb junior season, and has led his team to a 19-1 record thus far this year. Kennedy ranks among the top Class of 2011 prospects in the state of Illinois. Kennedy, a 6'8", 205-pound power forward, is a post who can not only score inside, but has also developed the ability to step out, and knock down open jumpers from the perimeter as well. Kennedy, who competes on the travel team circuit with the Peoria Irish, has had a number of dominating efforts this season including a 32-point game last week in a 69-64 win over Peotone. Kennedy knocked down four three-point baskets in that game. Kennedy has been pleased with his play thus far this season. “I think I’ve been playing pretty good this year. I really worked on my game this summer and before the season. I’m shooting the ball pretty good right, and just staying focused and keeping everything in perspective. This is our first year with our new coach and I’ve adapted with him really well, and he’s been good for us as a team,” said Kennedy. Kennedy has drawn interest from a wide range of college programs including Eastern Illinois, Lafayette, Hillsdale, Wichita State and Western Minnesota State. He is sure to see his recruiting profile continue to grow in stature over the balance of his junior season, and also on the travel team circuit this spring and summer. For now, Kennedy's focus is clearly fixed on helping Dwight finish out the regular season strong, and putting his team in position to make a run at the IHSA Class 1A state championship. |
